Ibiza Weather Alert: Intense Rain and Cold from Deep Storm
A powerful deep storm is about to disrupt the usually sunny weather in Ibiza and Formentera. It will bring widespread, intense rains and cause a significant temperature drop in the Balearic Islands.
Weather Alert: Major Climate Shift Expected in Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands, renowned for their warm and sunny climate, are bracing for a major weather change this week. Aemet, the State Meteorological Agency, has issued an alert about an approaching deep storm. This storm is expected to drench the region with widespread, heavy rains. Ibiza and Formentera, also known as the Pitiusas, will be among the affected islands. The storm is forecasted to arrive on Friday, May 12, and will cause temperatures to plummet across the islands.
Imminent Arrival of the Deep Storm
As the cold low of the deep storm nears, weather instability has already started to affect the archipelago. On Monday, the islands will see evolving daytime clouds with isolated showers. There’s also a low chance of locally strong storms. Despite the approaching storm, Monday’s temperatures will remain relatively stable, ranging between 22º and 25º in Ibiza. These temperatures are higher than the usual 21º for this time of the year.
Weather Predictions for the Week
Aemet’s forecasts slightly cloudy skies with intervals of high clouds for Tuesday, May 9. The skies will turn overcast at night. There’s a low chance of occasional, weak rain. Nighttime temperatures will dip slightly, while daytime temperatures will rise a bit. Winds will blow from the west, turning southward in the afternoon with coastal breezes.
Weather instability will increase on Wednesday, with cloudy skies and a higher chance of rain. Minimum temperatures will rise slightly, while maximum temperatures will fall. In Ibiza, the temperature may reach up to 24º.
Staying Safe During the Deep Storm
Aemet urges residents and visitors to stay updated with the latest weather reports and take necessary precautions. It is recommended to stay indoors during the storm and avoid unnecessary travel. In case travel is unavoidable, checking road conditions and preparing for slippery roads and reduced visibility is crucial.
In conclusion, the Balearic Islands are gearing up for a significant weather event this week as a deep storm is set to bring widespread and intense rains, and a significant drop in temperatures. Stay tuned for further updates and stay safe.
