Ibiza Season Begins with Tourists from the Netherlands, France, and Belgium
Tourism Director Predicts Arrival of British and Other Travelers in Summer
The summer season in Ibiza is about to start with the arrival of French, Belgian, and Dutch tourists at the Ibiza Airport. However, it is expected that British tourism will not begin to arrive in Ibiza for a few more weeks, although three of the main companies connecting the island with the UK begin operating this Monday. The rest will gradually join in throughout April, so all routes will be in operation by May.
Good Reservation Figures and Tourist Loyalty
According to Juan Miguel Costa, the island’s Tourism Director, reservations figures are looking good, with numbers similar to those of 2019 or 2022. He acknowledges that bookings are being made with less advance notice, but tourist loyalty to Ibiza is being demonstrated, especially in the Francophone markets.
More Routes and Direct Flights
As the season progresses, Costa expects the direct route to Lisbon and the connection with Menorca to begin operating. He also reminds us that, as happened last year, the Balearic Islands will have a direct flight between Palma and New York, which is expected to bring American tourists to Ibiza, a trend that he hopes will consolidate in 2023.
Sports Competitions and Discos
Costa expects the entire tourism sector to start functioning during this month of April, thanks in particular to sports competitions, Easter week, and the opening of discos at the end of the month. The Multisport World Championships will bring between 10 and 12,000 people, the Ibiza Marathon, which takes place next weekend, around 8 or 10,000 people, and the Mountain Bike Tour around 4,000 people, as long as weather conditions are also favorable.
