Incident Details

On July 2, at about 8:40 PM, the Police received a distress call about a house fire in Ibiza. Upon arrival, the National Police and Local Police patrols found a house’s terrace partially consumed by fire, with several electrical appliances destroyed.

At the time of the incident, the house was occupied by multiple people. The ex-partner of the alleged perpetrator was among them. According to reports, the man had come to seek a reconciliation with his ex-partner, a proposal she firmly rejected. This rejection led to the man threatening her and other occupants of the house.

Witness statements provided to the police confirmed that the man had a large knife and a bag full of objects. He warned one of the residents that if his ex-partner didn’t leave, he would set the house on fire with all the occupants inside. The occupants then saw him throw a bottle that hit the wall, triggering an explosion. He then threw a second bottle, which spread the flames further.

With the fire department’s help, the police confirmed the bottles contained gasoline and a wick – they were ‘Molotov cocktails’. Subsequently, they arrested the man for attempted murder using an incendiary device.

Despite the fire damage on the terrace, the kitchen, and multiple electronic devices, the fire department successfully extinguished the fire. Police also confiscated the knife the man had with him.
