Balearic Islands Weather Alerts Lifted as Roads Reopen
The Balearic Islands have seen all weather alerts lifted, marking the end of a challenging period of adverse weather conditions. Local authorities commend both emergency services and residents for their resilience and responsible actions during the severe weather event.
All Weather Alerts Deactivated in the Balearic Islands
The 112 Emergency Service of the Balearic Islands announced today that all weather alerts have been deactivated. This decision comes after significant efforts to manage the impact of the DANA (Disturbance of Atlantic Origin) weather system that recently affected the region. Mayor Prohens expressed gratitude towards emergency personnel and the community for their responsible behaviour during the storms.
Severe Rainfall and Storm Impact
Over the past 24 hours, Mallorca experienced intense rainfall with up to 113 liters per square metre in Alfàbia. Llucmajor received 77 l/m², while Pollença and Calvià saw significant accumulations. The storms also affected Menorca and Formentera, though to a lesser extent. The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) provided detailed reports on the rainfall levels across the islands.
Emergency Services Manage 91 Incidents
The total number of incidents managed by Emergencies 112 reached 91, with 90 in Mallorca and one in Menorca. Most incidents involved flooding in public roads and basements. Emergency teams responded swiftly, addressing all affected areas promptly, minimizing damage, and ensuring public safety.
Roads Reopen as Weather Stabilises
Following a night of calm weather, all roads in the Balearic Islands have reopened to traffic. This development is a positive sign that the weather has stabilised, allowing normal activities to resume. The local authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely, advising residents to stay alert for any isolated showers that may still occur.
Balearic Weather Alerts Lifted – Looking Ahead
While current alerts have been lifted, AEMET advises the population to remain cautious as there may still be occasional strong showers and storms, especially around midday. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels to ensure ongoing safety.
